This one of the first paintings I ever fell in love with because mum has a copy from when she was younger. This painting by Tamara de Lempicka is titled Les Deux Amies (The Two Friends), 1923 and was a rare representation of a modern lesbian couple painted by a woman, away from the hyper-sexualised male gaze. At the time the figures were described as “hard and expressive amazons in stone”. 😍😍 I could have cried while staring at this beauty and the pure validation i felt sharing a space with some thing which subconsciously validated body positivity, lesbian love and women in art for me growing up 😭😭😭
